Design

The pilot control units 4TH6, 4TH6N and 4TH5 basically consist of a control lever, four pressure setting valves.
Each pressure adjustment valve consists of a control coil, a control spring, a return spring and a plunger.

General

The design of the 4TH6N and 4TH5 versions differs from the 4TH6 version. This reduces the force variations that are felt when the lever is deflected.
Because 4TH5 is smaller and lighter, it is commonly used for applications in compact machines.

Function

If the control lever is not activated, it is held in the zero position by four return springs. The control ports are connected to the tank opening T via a bore.
When the control lever is deflected, the plunger pushes against the return spring and the control spring. The control spring first moves the control slide down and closes the connection between the respective port and the tank port T. At the same time, the respective port is connected to port P via a bore. The control phase begins as soon as the control slide finds a balance between the force of the control spring and the force resulting from the hydraulic pressure in the respective port.
By means of the interaction of the control slide and the control spring, the pressure in the respective ports is proportional to the stroke of the plunger and thus to the position of the control lever.
The rubber sleeve protects the mechanical components of the cover from contamination.
